FCC ready to curb ISP traffic management

Federal regulators on Monday said they are ready to discipline Internet service providers who secretly favor certain types of data traffic, like Web surfing, over others, like file sharing. FCC OKs Clear Channel Buyout

The Federal Communications Commission has signed off on the $19.5 billion deal that will take the nation's largest radio broadcaster private, an agency official said Thursday. Clear Channel is being taken private by a group led by Thomas H. Lee Partners LP and Bain Capital Partners LLC for $39.20 a share. Shareholders already have approved the transaction. The buyout still needs approval from the Justice Department. (AP)

FCC to Investigate Comcast's Alleged P2P Throttling

The Federal Communications Commission will investigate complaints that Comcast actively interferes with Internet traffic as its subscribers try to share files online, the commission’s chairman, Kevin J. Martin, said Tuesday. Comcast denies that it blocks file sharing, but acknowledged that it was “delaying” some traffic between computers that share files. (AP)
